Statement: CAROLINADAZE in solidarity with Palestinian Liberation
Earlier this summer, local organizers informed us that the technology company Red Hat, headquartered in Raleigh, provides data processing and automation services to the Israeli military.
When we booked the Red Hat Amphitheater in Spring 2024 for our music festival, we did not know about Red Hat’s activities, nor did we research the company, since the city of Raleigh owns and manages the facility alongside LiveNation. We did not have, and have not to date had, any interaction with the Red Hat company.
We thank these organizers for reaching out directly to make us aware. And in the spirit of transparency, we want to make explicit the following:
1) We confirmed with the city and the venue’s management that the Red Hat company receives no revenue from the CAROLINADAZE Music & Arts Festival,
2) The Red Hat company is not a sponsor, nor a supporter, of CAROLINADAZE, and has no involvement with our event whatsoever, and
3) We are working with the same local organizers who alerted us to build awareness and education about the movement for Palestinian liberation, who were featured at our September 14 show in Raleigh.
We are in solidarity with calls for a permanent ceasefire and an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine. Like so many important causes highlighted and benefited during our youth-focused event, we hope to expand our coalition by providing a platform for critical voter education about numerous issues in alignment with local organizers throughout the state. We also thank Muslim Women For & the Palestinian Youth Network-NC for their powerful speeches last Saturday.
